Spring Plumbing Tips

Its that time of year again. Spring has sprung which can only mean one thing – spring cleaning. This is also the best time for you to get in some much needed maintenance around the house.

This article provides a few useful hints to help you keep your home plumbing problem-free.

Bathroom and Kitchen Maintenance

The first thing you should do is make sure all your drains are equipped with strainers to catch hair, food, or any other foreign object trying to clog your drain. You should also check your faucets and other fixtures (indoors and outdoors) for leaks, cracks, or other damage, which, if left untreated, could increase your water bill or result in repair costs.

No one wants that.

General Plumbing Tips

You should install flood alarms, which are handy devices that will alert you if they come in contact with water. This will notify you of any impending flooding before it is too late.

It is also important to check your drains. Remember drains must be able to efficiently drain water at all times. If you do not use a certain drain often, occasionally pour a gallon of water down the drain to ensure it is not clogged or rusted through.

Outdoors you should check for foreign objects like birds’ nests, leaves, sticks, or anything else that may be obstructing your drain. If there is any, be sure to get them out of the way.

A little spring maintenance can go a long way.
